An allocation of up to $10,000.00 may be paid towards an adult Dambimangari member, or the child of an adult Dambimangari member for funeral costs.
Applicants must first apply to the Department for Child Protection and Family Support (DCP) / Centrelink for funding before seeking assistance under this policy, confirmation of application to the DCP and any assistance granted will need to be provided to the trust.
The application form needs to be completed in full and sent to the DAC office. An invoice from the funeral director is required before any payment can be made. Payments are to cover the following items:
- Funeral director’s costs – paid directly to funeral director;
- Travel for immediate family;
- Flowers for service and casket;
- Equipment hire (chairs/marques); and
- Funeral booklets – printing/binding.
- Cultural Gifts and obligations.
Funeral director’s costs take priority and no other assistance can be provided until these costs are covered.
